Paul Wager was born in Hartlepool Cleveland England. He was educated at Rosebank High School, Hartlepool, where film directors Riddley and Tony Scott were also schoolboys.   He continued his studies at Sunderland and Newcastle Polytechnic's and the royal College of art London. He has taught at numerous British art schools, most recently at Loughborough University, Dept Fine Art (Sculpture).

"'Relics', these works of  Wager's are not hall marked with a single definable perspective, existing instead in the zone of ambiguity and contradiction between macho and kitsch, erotic and ironic."

Peter Wheeler; Loughborough University 1994

"Fundamental to Wager's work is an underlying mistrust of governments and financiers whose decision making has more than contributed to the environmental and social ravaging that has despoiled the face of his birth place and current home, Hartlepool, Cleveland England. The information offered is dis-empassioned through the sculptor's use of philosophical and religions comparisons.

Dave Morris; Loughborough University 1998

I find myself at the interzone of painting and sculpture; my work is a heavy metal cocktail of male fantasies, obsessive and confrontational. It is a chemical haze of alternative sound and vision, religion and politics, conflict and war, tragedy and loss. A crucible of liquid observations and memories, which stimulate my pending offering to the uncharted future of art.
